Remembering Mother M. Scholastica Rivata on her birthday!
Today, the 12th of July, as Disciples of the Divine Master we celebrate the birthday of our first sister, now Venerable Mother M. Scholastica Rivata. She returned home to God on the 24th of March 1987 after a life which was totally dedicated to the Divine Master. She leaves us a precious legacy and a spiritual programme to follow. Here are some thoughts from her:
-Heaven is beautiful and to reach there we need to pass by the way of our Master, the way of the Cross, may the Lord be blessed because in His infinite mercy He allowed us poor mortals to participate in it…
-Seek to correspond to the divine invitations and to work faithfully because the Lord has chosen you and loves you so much. He lets you taste the joy of belonging to Him, to be His, always be His. Give thanks to Him and keep faith that He will continue to enrich you with the Holy Spirit. Your ‘yes’ which you pronounced on the day of your Profession flows into each day until that final day where you will give to Him all of your life adorned with virtues and merits...
-No Disciple is greater than the Master, so let us all be serene. In the daily trials both big and small the Divine Master is always accompanying us and loves us: precisely because He allows us experience trials and humiliations, these are the things which will enrich our glory above…
-May Jesus never be a stranger to you but the Sweet Spouse of your soul, and keep you close to His heart in simplicity, humility and smallness. These three virtues are those which make us ascend with joy and heavenly love. Let us ask for an increase in faith, with it we will reach salvation and the perfect love of God. Then Paradise! There we will be together for ever…
-Certainly, annoyances are never missing in any place, but these are the most beautiful flowers which give greater glory in Paradise. On this earth, if sometimes there are some joys and satisfactions, which soon turn into trials and tribulations, it is because here below is not or place, for this reason may we take everything from the divine hands with peace, awaiting the happy day of eternal happiness.
-I have the sweet hope in a Paradise which soon awaits me, what more could I desire? I feel that this is more than enough for me, more so, it fills my spirit so completely that I have no need of anything else. This is enough for me, for all creation and all the things of the earth. The Divine Master desired to wrap me in disgust for the things of the world, and to make me desire only those of Heaven…
-May we all faithfully serve the Lord with much love and generosity and prepare ourselves for his coming each day so as to be ready when He arrives, ready and adorned like a bride ready for the bridegroom.
Intercede for us Mother M. Scholastica!

Some of the older saints like Ss Augustine and Benedict might seem a bit irrelevant in today's world. But it doesn't take too long to realise that they're more relevant than ever. Once you start exploring their writing and thoughts, of course.
